About us

Who we are

We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them.

The SadikBanu Welfare Trust is a small independent organisation run by a dedicated team of volunteers in the UK.

The charity was set up by Samsudin Abdulhusein and Shirin Abdulhusein. Samsudin was very young when his family was expelled from Uganda by Idi Amin’s regime in 1972. He and his family settled in Sheffield and was fortunate to have received a very good education. For the first time in 2008, he had a chance to revisit his childhood school in Hoima and was overwhelmed by the poor state of the school. The condition moved them so much that they decided to get involved in supporting the school for the continued education of the children.

It took a while to set up a structure to provide ongoing support. This was mainly for the reason that they wanted to make sure that the right team is in place so that when funds are collected and sent to the school, it will be put to good use and there will be proper accountability.

Currently they are running non-registered charity, though our medium term aim is to register the charity in the UK with a parallel Charitable Trust in Uganda to support pupils and families directly.

Supporting Education

We provide textbooks, equipment, and learning resources for both students and teachers.
This helps create more engaging lessons and better educational outcomes.

School Meals

Nutrition for every child

Fuel for Learning

We aim to provide at least one nutritious meal during the school day.
A well-fed child can focus, learn, and grow with energy and confidence.

Student Support

Uniforms and essentials

Removing Barriers

We help provide uniforms and basic necessities so children can attend school with dignity.
Small support can make the difference between attending school or staying home.
